Seto Ware stoneware
ishizara plate, with a cream-colored slip painted over in
gosu blue and iron oxide with the characters for:
Love is the Same in
Any Country
Edo Period, late 18th -
early 19th century.
At the time, kuni
or country would have meant province, though the
feeling seems universal. A beautiful design with fluid
calligraphy.
